Welcome! I’m writing about my creative growth in hopes of making this blog an inspirational magnet. I believe this: Everything I need, I already have. And maybe, so do you.

Let’s make writing on this blog our very own, special...

Basically, I’m an old-fashioned, family-oriented daughter of Chinese immigrants who’s masquerading as an independent, single working
mom. Well, at least, that was me before blogging. Now that I live out
loud online, I feel much more whole. It’s possible to be both of those
women at the same time!
A little more about me: I grew up in New York City’s Chinatown and
live in the ‘burbs. But I’m in NYC a lot because I teach journalism
at NYU, The New School and Mediabistro. You can also find me in
Bronxville, N.Y. at Sarah Lawrence College’s Writing Institute.
And I’m still very much the student, taking yoga, painting and salsa
classes. I got divorced in 2000 after an 18-year marriage -- which
has me learning about mid-life dating, too (and the lack of it; all very
strange but sometimes, it’s nice).
My personal theme inspired this blog: Everything I need, I already have.
P.S. -- I hardly ever write about my 14-year-old daughter because she
wants her privacy. But even though she’s not on this blog much, The
Princess is still the great love of my life.
